Hot Chocolate Season desktop, laptop, tablet and phone wallpaper

It's the hot drink season in Northern Hemisphere! The weather is getting colder, as it should and there's even been snow in many places. Not so much snow here in Helsinki, but other parts of Finland have seen pretty severe snowing already. The world is very hostile at the moment. People are being taken advantage of and violated by corporations and governments alike. Depressing and mortifying things are happening and it can feel like you cannot do a thing. But as Fishtopher the cat (or rather his human) wrote: "i know kindness exists because i am kind. i know hope exists because i h...

Yet another brand and website redesign

It's that time of the year. Or something. Yes, I redesigned my site... again. If you have been hanging around for a while, you already know I cannot quit tweaking and refining and messing around my site. It's something I've been doing since late '90s and I cannot stop. Actually I redesigned my site last time just about six months ago, but I didn't quite like the design. I didn't hate it. I just didn't like it that much either. It wasn't that much different from the previous design, mainly just working on the colours and adding some solid colour blocks here and there. But it felt a bit stif...

A few thoughts on YouTube

For the past couple of months I have been reigniting my YouTube channel. Before that I had only posted one video of drawing a cat and that was it. But recently I have been adding Procreate drawing time lapses almost weekly, and have even posted a few little animations. Procreate is a popular drawing app for iPad and iPhone. It has an inbuilt feature which creates a time lapse video of your drawing process, which I have been sharing either as is or with little edits. Adding some music from YouTube to the videos. It has been also an interesting little exercise, which has prompted...

How art can benefit your life, work and business

Recently there's been lots of talk about how art is elitist and luxury. A Finnish right-wing populist politician said it and the AI bros have been all about how AI makes art attainable for everyone, not just the rich. Sure, lots of art is only available for those with means. Opera tickets tend to be of a higher price range, as well as art of established, famous artists. But then there are many art forms and artworks, that are available for much wider audiences. Not every artist is famous and not every art form comes with high costs for those who want to experience them. It's just a questio...

Protect your online presence

Google search results have turned inaccurate, irrelevant and plain useless. Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, is laying off people en masse. Plus people are talking about a new tech bubble bust as technology stocks are plummeting. And then there's the trash fire called Twitter. Twitter hasn't been profitable since... ever really. With the new management the revenue has crashed. The company is bleeding money. There's desperation in air with the new attempts of raise profits. There has been talks about paywalling the app altogether.. It looks like the whole thing is going down...

Validation

I wish I didn't feel the need for external validation. Lately those of us who are on Twitter have been watching the world's richest man struggling for validation. He has found out the people who have usually been brown-nosing and boosting him are not as many as those who just outright laugh at him. He has begged money from a popular author, he has threatened brands who are pulling advertisement from Twitter, he has tried to create new rules to stop people from mocking him. It would be sad, if he wasn't so obnoxious about it. If you have surrounded yourself with yes-men, who don't dare to...

Notes on drawing Summer Cat

"Black and white illustration of a happy black cat laying on its back with one front paw stretched out as if it's waving surrounded by wild strawberry plants" The alt text is pretty uncomplicated, as is the illustration. It is a black and white drawing of a cat, with the most important features created in simple ink strokes. The cat looks happy and content. Maybe it has just been frolicking in this field of wild strawberries before throwing itself on the field tummy up, as cats sometimes do. While any artist wishes their art speaks for itself and one image tells worth 1000 words, sometimes...
