I'm boring
I'm boring. There's no much to say about that. I mean, I can be funny and somewhat interesting in times. But most of the time I'm boring. And you know what? There's nothing wrong about being boring. No, this is no sarcasm. This is no irony. I'm not trying to be funny here. I'm all serious. Being boring is rather easy. You don't have to come up with something exiting and interesting to say or do. Just do the usual stuff you do every day. Have a run, take a shower, have a breakfast, do the job, have a lunch, work more and so forth. That's so brilliantly boring. I doubt anyone can be funny,...
Marketing basics: Stop selling, start giving
This is a new basics of marketing series aimed for small businesses and self employed individuals. It's a commonly known fact that (most) people don't like being targets of marketing. Especially they (we) hate advertising and selling part of it. Of course as a business owner you'll need sales. It would be ridiculous to think otherwise. As long as your customers are aware of the fact that they are being "victims" of marketing, they will fight against it. In order to make them stop fighting, you'll need to stop selling so hard. Selling needs to come naturally, in the way the custom...
Marketing Basics: The reason
This is a new basics of marketing series aimed for small businesses and self employed individuals. You build it and they will come! That's what they say. The truth is that's not likely to happen for real. Not just like that. As fine as your product or service is, it's not going to sell itself. It's not magic, it's not fate. Advertising is marketing, but marketing is not advertising. That means you can, you will and you have to market, but you don't have to advertise to do so. It also means advertising should be only part of your marketing, not the whole deal. If you find advertisi...
Sorry, I don't think I'm the right person to do this
When you are offered a job or a project, you should take it. Right? Wrong. Today was one of those moments, when I just had to say: "Sorry, I don't think I'm the right person to do this." It was a project offer from someone I've worked with before and I'm working with currently on another thing. But this one would have had to be ready in a very short time. Unfortunately after asking a couple of additional questions I came to think I might not be able to do it in that time. Saying no to a job or project offer is really difficult. Especially if you aren't exactly swimming in money like Uncl...
This time it's personal
Have you noticed how I keep telling that social media (and well, pretty much anything online) is all about being personal? Instead of groups, the targets need to be seen as persons, individuals. So why do I go on and on about this? Well, do a little web search about anything, especially anything everyday and kind of trivial. Something to do with health. Or drying rack for washed clothes. Or family stuff, like something to do with babies. Breastfeeding, perhaps. You are likely to find a thread on a forum, questions and answers. Read a few and you'll see the things are soon heating up and...
Oh no logo
I needed a new bag. Something big and sturdy enough to fit my Macbook and other stuff I want to carry around. A bag which doesn't look like it was made for the granny who wants to pretend to be rich. Price around 50 euros. To my surprise everything matching the requirements was decorated with huge logos. Sports brand logos mostly. Adidas, Puma, Nike, Björn (We Are The) Borg and so forth. I ended up with one saying Adidas, only because it happened to fit my needs. It came with a nice color and a strap which shouldn't dig deep into my shoulder. Spacious and nifty pockets inside. And the logo...
31 things I like
Today it's been 31 years since I made my grande entrance to this world. To celebrate that and to be a bit more positive than usual, here's a random list (in a random order) of 31 things I like: Cats Books Old cameras Buttons Computers and (other) gadgets Sunny winter days Pretty shoes Nerds Seas, lakes and rivers Long hot showers Tea Nice dogs Taking photos Old typewriters Bathtubs Cheesecakes Handmade stuff Foggy and misty days Genuine kindness Birches Green Blue...
