How and why I created a free email course
The members of my email list have been teased about an upcoming email course for a while now. Today, I'm launching the course. Here's hoping everything goes well. So how and why I created this free email course? I've had a couple of different incentives for joining my email list. I hope people stick around for the content of my emails, but I know sometimes you have to give a little extra to initially spark the interest. It's an extra gift. Besides sharing my knowledge and experience for free each week, plus now also giving out monthly gifts, I also give an extra thing right away. The subscr...
How I'm building an online presence with personality
I'm on a mission. My mission is to spread the gospel of showing your personality. While everyone else tells you to be professional and insanely useful, I urge you to be a person and personal. I feel also, that to lecture about using your personality to build your online presence, I must do it myself. Lead by example, and whatnot. For today's post, I was going to dig into some statistics of this blog and my site in general. A bit of history, telling how it used to be like a ghost town and now I've got a steadily growing readership. Nothing unreasonable, just a couple of hundred visitors per...
The meaning of colours in life, business and design
"The psychology of colours. In design, colours matter more than you think. The importance of colours in branding. Men's and women’s favourite and least favourite colours. The meaning of colours." If you have a blog or run a business, you have by now read all the articles and seen all those infographics about colour psychology. You know that red conveys excitement, passion, maybe anger. You are well aware that orange is the colour of warmth and joy, and it's the colour of profitability and drawing attention. Blue is all about trust and strength and green is the colour of health, growth...
What is branding
A brand is more than just a logo. It is more than the colours and fonts. It's more than your social media avatar and slogans. I keep talking about branding here on my blog, in my weekly emails and all around my social media feeds. For some of you it seems like an empty and cold marketing buzzword. But, maybe surprisingly, branding is something much more human. So, what is branding, anyway? Brand is what distinguishes you, your business and your product or service from other people, businesses and products. You can think your brand as a promise of what can be expected. It is the way you, yo...
Branding for socially anxious
As someone who is introverted and has social anxiety, it may seem funny that I'm into branding and other marketing. Aren't those things for extroverts and loud, social people? Don't you have to be outgoing and the centre of the attention to become great at branding and take advantage of marketing? I'm on a mission to shatter those simple stereotypes. First things first, it's important to remember that introversion and social anxiety are not the same thing. Introverted people can be quite social, but for us it's very important to take time to recover from social situations in private. While e...
When, how and why to rebrand
Rebranding is scary. It's like getting a completely different haircut and colour. When I switched from brown hair to blonde a few years ago, even my big sister didn't recognise me momentarily. In rebranding, you change certain things people have used for identifying you and your business. Being afraid is understandable. There are all the what ifs. What if I'll lose my clients? What if nobody will find my business anymore? What if it is a huge failure. Rebranding doesn't have to be a mess which leads you to failure. In a Facebook group I saw a person asking about how to rebrand her thriving...
Why you do what you do?
At first you were told to pursue your passions. It proved to be more difficult than you initially thought. But then, all of a sudden, the story shifted and suddenly you were supposed to have a purpose. A purpose for doing what you do. A purpose for your job, a purpose for your business, a purpose for your creations. You have now been presented with a new problem. Passion is not enough, nor is being good at it, or having the experience. You have to be able to tell why you do what you do. A few months ago I wrote about 10 questions to answer for personal branding. As someone pointed out in t...
