How to make working from home work for you
Most of those articles and tips you read about working from home don't ask the most important question: What works the best for you when you are working from home? Reading all the articles online, working from home can appear like the most difficult task in the world. There are tons of opinions and half-assed studies about how to work more efficiently from home. The more complex the advice is, the better. For example, there's that helpful and often repeated advice about having a separate working space. It tells how working from home you should, must, have to have a separate working space....
Branding your blog
Branding, you cannot escape it in this information age. There's business branding, personal branding and, if you are a blogger, now you've got to brand your blog too. Then again, if you do have a blog, it already has a brand. Of a sort at least. A brand is, in most part, the image people have about a product. It is also a promise, which tells what to expect from a product. In this case the product would be your blog and the blog posts. Even if you haven't done any intentional branding your blog and posts still project an image (or several) and your readers still have an image (or several) of...
Why I use email list double opt-in (and why you should too)
There are two very basic reasons why I use double opt-in. And why you should too. One is to protect the other people and the other one is to protect yourself. If you wish to join my email list you must, after filling the simple form on my site, activate your subscription. This is a common practice with email list subscriptions, known as double opt-in. Unlike in single opt-in, in double opt-in just filling the subscription form doesn't add you on an email list. Instead you must first confirm your email address, usually by clicking a special link in a confirmation/activation email. This ma...

A personal brand is lot more than just your logo and website colour palette. It is what distinguishes you from others. Your brand can be seen as a promise. Your brand also is built from the image and expectations your customers, blog readers, followers, competition, fans, haters and others have of you, your business and your products....
Making of Augment Intelligence Branding
Right before the end of last year Richard MacManus, founder of tech blog ReadWrite, approached me with asking a quote for a branding project. He was about to start a new newsletter, titled Augment Intelligence and needed a logo plus related social media headers for Twitter, Facebook and Google+. I was interested and we got fast into an agreement about the project. To get the project started and to find out what Richard was expecting from the logo and the headers I asked a couple of questions. I had already a basic idea of what Augment Intelligence was about, and based on it could gue...
Quick notes about branding
Branding is very simple. It is not a great mystery, a secret formula possessed by the chosen ones. Nor it's sleazy, at least unless you make it such. What is branding, then? In its most simple definition, brand is the product itself plus the image the people, such as customers, consumers in general, your employees, the media representatives and your mom, have about the product. By product, in this case, I mean a product, service, person, company, country, idea or pretty much anything else you are putting on the market. The image cannot be force-fed, nor it can be controlled. Attempting to fo...
Why?
Why do you do what you do? I thought the previous question had been difficult. That had asked for a one-liner about what I do. Being untitled and uncategorised, that was already a tough one to answer. To cramp everything I do, the art, the web design, the branding and marketing, the consulting, the writing, which includes poetry, in one little sentence. That is, without sounding nuts or overly enthusiastic. I had struggled through that one, when the next question was slapped to my face. Why? I took a deep breath and started to wonder why. Why am I here today? Why did I go to study firs...
