Twitter Tuesday: When and how often should I tweet?
Okay, I must confess something: This week's Twitter Tuesday has a tad misleading headline. There's really no one straight answer to the question. No, not really. But there's some data others have collected. And this data may help you to decide when and how often you'll want to tweet. Yes, in the end it's up to you, no matter what the so called gurus will tell you. Some say it's best to tweet on around 10 to 12 times a day. This way you'll be noticed, but won't be too noisy. Please notice that in my opinion the @replies aren't usually counted in this. There's even at least one a st...
Twitter Tuesday: Finding people and brands to follow on Twitter
Twitter isn't just about posting Tweets and hoping someone will read, reply and ReTweet them. It's also about finding new information, connecting and being social. Following other users. So, how to find people and brands to follow? Use web If a person or a brand has a blog or any other sort of website as well as a Twitter account, they are likely to link to the account from their site. Look for that link. Check out the sidebars and footers of interesting sites. Some use nifty little buttons (with the "t" or a bird usually) and some just tell you to "follow them". Check the following/fo...
Twitter Tuesday: Communication on Twitter
Communication is a big part of any social media platform or service. Well, it's basically what the whole social media is about. Communication on Twitter is pretty simple and there are several different ways to interact with others. Part of the function of Twitter handles (usernames) is to help with interaction. They are used to address a Tweet to certain person or to mention them in the conversation. The reason why most people suggest to have a as short as possible Twitter handle is because of this: A Tweet is 140 characters long. Including the handle in the Tweet takes it's length of ch...
How to make your blog more readable
I try and keep up on quite a many blogs every day. Unfortunately I don't have all the time in world to do so and sometimes I resort to plain skimming. Unless the post seems extraordinarily interesting. I am a quite fast reader, but sometimes blogs are designed and blog posts constructed so that reading them is slow and feels like way too much of work. Find your true voice and flow Other people have their ways to write. And some of them like to think writing in a certain way is the only right way. I do think everyone has their own style and even if it's not perfect and the grammar correct,...
Twitter Tuesday: Getting started with Twitter
Twitter is a free networking and microblogging service on which users can share short, in maximum 140 characters long messages called "Tweets". These messages can be random rants, funny skits, information blurbs, links and so forth. Twitter can be used in various different ways, only limited by the length and your imagination. Sign up and usernames To really get started with Twitter I recommend to create an account to the service and explore yourself. Create the account by heading to Twitter and using the very simple sing up form. You'll need to come up with a username, which is commonly...
Don't make a video or an infographic the only source of information
Why not make a video or a infographic the sole source of the information you want to give? Don't they seem like the best way to reach the whole world? Well, no. Not all the time. Accessing videos and infographics can be least to say difficult. If a video is available only as Flash, viewing them with iPhones, iPads and such isn't possible. And even if the video is available in other formats too, not everyone can watch them and not everyone can hear them. You know, people who cannot see or hear (well). Infographics are pretty much a pain to check out on a phone. Especially if the graphic is...
