Blogger highlight: Nina Enroth

This week Blogger highlight is my friend and former business partner Nina Enroth. Her blog, Ninan verkkareissa, is in Finnish about everyday life with focus on sports, healthy lifestyle and current topics about which she writes approximately 1 to 3 times a week. Additionally Nina writes about parenting, travelling and food. She also contributes regularly, around by-monthly, on a blog called #momfie. Nina describes it as "a tongue in cheek fashion blog by a bunch of mothers". Nina posts photos and short notes on Instagram as well, in case Finnish isn't your language. Her blog appears to be pretty popular and she has also been featured in a Finnish lifestyle magazine Trendi a few times. As a communications professional Nina has great insights on blogging.

Why do you blog?
"I blog because I enjoy writing. Writing is a natural way of expressing myself. Also, not all my friends or family members are that into sports, so blog is a channel for me to pour all those issues out without boring them.

I am currently at home with my baby boy, so blogging is a way of keeping up with other things than nappies. My day job is at communications and I find it important to maintain my writing skills.

I have also made new friends through blogging and it is nice to see them online and IRL - at events or casual meetings."

For whom do you blog?
"I blog mainly to myself, to stay sane, but of course it is great to have readers, too. According to analytics my readers are young adults, 50/50 men and women."

How and where do you find subjects and inspiration for blog posts?
"Most often I write about exercising, so the inspiration comes from action. Sometimes the inspiration can come from an article or blog post, from a nice pic I happen to have or something I discussed with a friend. Inspiration can come from anywhere, really."

What has been your biggest challenge with blogging?
"The biggest challenge has been having a child. That caused a minor blogging crisis, as I didn't exercise as much as I used, so I felt like I didn't have anything to write about. Nor the energy or the time, to be honest. I stressed about blogging so much that I considered quitting the whole thing, but in the end I came to my senses and realised, that I am allowed to write just as seldom as I want and the subjects are also only limited by my imagination. As it is my personal blog and a hobby, not work. Nowadays I am good with blogging again."

What has been your greatest success with blogging?
"My greatest success has simply been the fact that I have been writing for about four years now. I am the girl who never managed to keep a diary for longer than a week as a child, so this is phenomenal."

Nina's blogging tips:
"Just go for it. As long as blogging is a hobby, you can play around with it freely. If you set up goals, for example regarding reader amounts, build up a light strategy and try to stick to it. BUT remember that if you stress about blogging, it will affect the content and in the end readers will notice it too. Happy blogger creates great content, and content is the king."

Nina's greetings for You:
"Blog and let others blog!"
