Hello,
I'm Mervi Eskelinen!
An artist, nerd and sorcerer, dedicated to make world softer and better for everyone, and to get you to make more art. Make art, change the world!
The latest Blogger highlight is Vera of Nicest Things. Vera has been blogging since February 2011 once or twice a week. As a food and interior stylist and photographer Vera writes mainly in German about food, interior, DIY and photography. She also publishes her own gorgeous photography on the blog. Additionally she tackles the subjects of beauty, fashion, design and health. Nicest Things is popular blog and it also helps Vera to make her own work visible and known.
Why do you blog?
"I love to share my passion for aesthetics, good food and pretty interiors with my readers. My 'real life' friends are not so much into these topics, so I appreciate the exchange of ideas with my readers a lot.
Besides, I work as a food / interior stylist and photographer and the blog is a great way to make my work known and establish relationships with possible clients."
For whom do you blog?
"Frankly said, mainly for myself. My blog is my creative outlet, my business card and my diary all at once. But of course, it would be nothing without my readers. I blog for everyone who shares my love for pretty things and can get some inspiration from my blog."
How and where do you find subjects and inspiration for blog posts?
"First of course, the classics: Pinterest, other blogs, shops, magazines, city trips... Everythings can be an inspiration. But often, ideas also come from everyday issues, e.g.: I absolutely need that designer lamp. But alas, it is way to expensive. So what to do? I try to do it myself!"
What has been your biggest challenge with blogging?
"To organize myself effectively and not to lose myself in the depths of internet, wasting my time away."
What has been your greatest success with blogging?
"I had the honor to contribute to a very nice book about interior design, published by Callwey Verlag / Petra Harms: "Wohnideen aus dem wahren Leben". Besides, I had features in magazines like Sweet Paul of which I am very proud, did some food photography for well-known German brands and had a talk about freelance blogging for the Chamber of Industry and Commerce."
Vera's blogging tips:
"Don't blog about things just because they are hip at the moment - and don't try to copy other bloggers. Just be yourself and blog about what you truly love. That's the best way to really enjoy blogging over a long time."
Vera's greetings for You:
"Thanks for reading - and I would love to welcome you on my blog!"
Blogger highlight series interviews and introduces different kinds of bloggers all around the world. The bloggers answer a selection of questions about blogging and what it means to them.
