In the store a girl tells her friends how she's going to get tax refunds for over 800 euros. She sees a pack of condoms accompanied with a small tube of lube and asks: "What's that?" Her friend seems unsure, but guesses it could be "some sort of lubricant liquid". At the bus stop an elderly woman smells faintly of pee and hums to herself. She decides to park herself right in front of me, as if she has the right to get to the bus first. Later in the bus the same elderly woman manages to pull my hair.
Wash the windows
I believe there are some people who actually enjoy cleaning. I'm not amongst those people. Cleaning is messy (yes, indeed) and painful. Of all the messy business of cleaning I'd say washing windows is the most challenging. You know why? Cause I'm short and I have a fear of heights. I might have a slight case of vertigo too. I cannot climb on ladders higher than perhaps too steps. And I need to climb on something in order to reach the upper corners of the windows. Standing on a ladder in front of an open window at the third floor of a building doesn't seem very good idea for a small perso...
The difficulty of letting go
Lately we've been getting rid of old and excess stuff. Like those age old t-shirts, which I've kept "just in case". Or piles of papers, some computer science prints and such. And even books. That's the most difficult thing for me: Letting go of books. Even the ones I never read. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Clothes, furniture and prints are much easier. With books it feels like getting rid of a family member. It's not that we just throw the old stuffs away. If they are good and recyclable they go to the local reuse centre or library or something. Seeing how much stuff we have h...
Atonement (2007)
PLEASE NOTE: The following includes spoilers about the movie. First of all Atonement (2007) sounds pretty blah. And if you see the poster/dvd-cover it most likely won't change that idea. However we've been totally jamesmcavoyed. That's for sure. And after seeing quite awesome Hanna (2011) we got the idea we should see other stuff directed by Joe Wright. So we watched the movie, as dull as we thought it might be. Like Hanna, it's beautiful from the start. Beautiful settings, beautiful angles, beautiful long shots. Beautiful sounds and music. Besides being pretty Atonement is...
X-Men: First Class (2011)
I've seen the previous X-Men movies. The not-so-bad, the rather-watch-than-to-be-punched, the awful and the shameful one. When Toni introduced the idea of going to see X-Men: First Class (2011) I wasn't too thrilled. \ I didn't exactly hate the idea. Matthew Vaughn directing sounded good after Kick-Ass (2010) and Layer Cake (2004). Michael Fassbender I remembered from Inglourious Basterds (2009). And James McAvoy I'd seen and liked on something. Therefore I thought it wouldn't hurt. I loved it. Throughout the beginning I was still unsure, but at some point I noticed I'd b...

Good for cough, excellent as laxative
Have you noticed how almost always another medication is required to fix the side effects of the medication? First you take something for a condition. Then, because the something you first took created you a new condition, you take something else too. A headache pill may cause a headache the next day. The vaccination to help your kid not to die from swine flu causes her a permanent neural damage. Those hormones you take for-what-ever-reason elevate your blood pressure, at least. Not to forget the cough medicine, which works also as a very very (very) effective laxative. If the warning text...
