Chocolate

It was hot and strong. Not very sweet, kind of bitter aftertaste. It felt thick and silky sliding down her throat, finally warming her stomach.

The boy looked anxious and enthusiastic. Like a dog after doing a neat trick and waiting for the reward.

Let him wait. She remembered the voice of aunt Daisy telling her to be hard to get. She had been so young she wouldn't understand. Now she did.

The boy had spilled the hot chocolate on the table. She looked at it and smiled.
