Hello,

My new headphones arrived today. They aren't anything fancy, just very cheap and very simple in-ear types.
When I get new headphones it usually takes a moment for me to get used to them. The type of these is very familiar to me and the size and shape is pretty much the same as my previous ones. The thing that's different is the sound. These new ones have much more darker, base-heavy sound. The previous headphones were more clear and slightly high-pitched, so the change is very clear.
I Tweeted about adjusting to my new headphones and a friend asked which ones I got. He's looking for new ones. I guessed these weren't his type, but gave the link. As predicted he told me he prefers the over-the-ear types, DJ-style headphones. I cannot explain how much I don't like those.
Some people love over-the-ear type headphones. And then there are us who cannot get them adjusted comfortably. They squeeze the head and ears, are itchy and in general just don't fit and are on the verge of dropping off all the time.
And then there are earbuds, the type that often comes with your new smartphone or other portable gadget. Many seem quite okay with them, but they don't fit all either. My ears just reject them, especially the left one. They keep popping out and that's really unpleasant after a while.
The in-ears don't fit all either. For me they are the only perfect choice, but I'm not everyone. Some don't like the feeling, no matter how long they try and get used to it. Or perhaps they don't like how they isolate, block all the environmental noises.
Headphones show clearly how one size doesn't fit all. Whether you are creating a product or a service it's not likely to make everyone happy. We don't only have different shaped ears and heads, but everything else is different too.
