Hello,
I'm Mervi Eskelinen!
An artist, nerd and sorcerer, dedicated to make world softer and better for everyone, and to get you to make more art. Make art, change the world!
I really don't like planning. When I hear the words business and plan together I shiver and when I think about putting things on a to do list I get nauseous. What makes planning so awful is that plans are those that never fully come true and they always hang around as things not done. But that's not all. I do prefer spontaneity over making and sticking to list of steps to achieve on objective.
Planning, besides of being disappointments more often than satisfactory, is for me a sure way to take anything fun out of things. I don't like planned vacations where you have do things following set timetable and go places because you had previously decided to go there. And honestly, people I know who like planning are the worst when their plans go out of the window. Actually a failing plan means freedom for me. When a plan fails it means I can go about my non-planned, taking it day at a time kind of life without being concerned about doing as I'm expected.
Additionally planning gives more time to worry about the outcome. It's easier to decide to take a trip tomorrow than to plan for one in next month. Less time I have to think about everything that might go wrong and everything I might forget to take along the more I will enjoy. This is why I never pack for a journey until the night before or sometimes even the same day, if I have the time.
Those who know me don't probably think of me as the most spontaneous person. I don't take off for a journey just like that or make crazy grande things that show off how spontaneous I am. I live on with everyday spontaneity: I don't like to make plans on what I'm going to have for dinner tomorrow or set an exact date for going to see a movie. After all tomorrow is another day.
