Short blog posts are good

So very often this happens: You find a blog post about a subject and start to read it. Unfortunately the text is long as life and your time and patience is limited.

You skim it through and if it doesn't get to the point soon and clearly enough, you'll just leave. Are you heading away right now?

If this doesn't happen to you, then have you noticed how long (or rather short) times people stay at your blog? If you use for instance Google Analytics to track the visits on your site, you may see a trend of lots of people bouncing in and out like scared bunny rabbits.

Although long and detailed, informational texts may provide more insight to the subject, short tends to be better. Keeping it short tries less the readers' patience and makes your blog more readable.

At least make sure the points of your text are easy to get in that very short time they will stay around. Use short paragraphs and try to make your point with less words.

If the subject requires longer approach, think about changing it into another format. Could it be a series of blog posts? Or a blog post with a specialized, separate article? Or maybe an e-book?
