Hello,
I'm Mervi Eskelinen!
An artist, nerd and sorcerer, dedicated to make world softer and better for everyone, and to get you to make more art. Make art, change the world!
Twitter launched it's new profile design earlier this fall and now the new design is on for everyone. The design comes with header or cover images, on the top of each profile page.
The header image is good for branding purposes, but it also works if you want to show your personal interests or skills.
For instance my artist friend Cristina uses her own painting as a header. Another friend, Justin, who's a photographer with a family has his own family photo as a header. Toni, a movie geek on the other hand needs a bigger boat.
When the new design was first launched, articles such as 10 Twitter Header Images Done Right surfaced. They show how the headers can be used in rather interesting and creative ways.
However there's a thing about the header images: They don't work the same way on different apps. Below you can see how the Twitter headers show on TweetBot, the app I and many others use and how they appear on the official Twitter app for iPhone.
The reason I'm showing these is show that your creative header image designs may not work as intended on all platforms. It's a good thing to take in count when whipping up your header image.
