Is this blog post unique enough?

One of the reasons for a blogger's block is the nagging feeling that everything has already been written. Especially with all the advice out there telling you to be unique. The advice is kinda okay, but it's mostly misleading.

When that blogger's block - or blogger's anxiety - hits, a bunch of depressing thoughts come to mind. Someone else has already wrote about this. Why would your writing be any better or at least as interesting? Do you have anything new to say about this subject? Is it worth the effort? Will anyone read it? Is it unique?

The unpleasant truth is most of bloggers don't actually write that well and they aren't being really so unique as they hope. Not even those who are telling you to be unique. Nor those who are praised and who are getting lots of comments and shares.

There are tons of blogs out there. And there are tons of people surfing around, trying to find what ever they are trying to find. Or just mindlessly bouncing from a site to site. There's already everything for everyone and most of all there's everyone for everything.

Whatever you are going to write has most likely been already wrote or said in a way or another. Completely unique is rare, if not impossible. Of course copying, stealing and plagiarism are no good. Don't do that.

You can write it though in "your own words", as they say. If it's not a completely new thing or completely unique thought, it doesn't matter. You will give it your personal touch and make it new.

Next time you have that thought of not being unique enough, ignore that silly feeling. Instead write and publish. That's what everyone else is doing. And many of them are being rather successful.
