Hello,
I'm Mervi Eskelinen!
An artist, nerd and sorcerer, dedicated to make world softer and better for everyone, and to get you to make more art. Make art, change the world!
You have put up an email newsletter. Perhaps with MailChimp (my choice), MadMimi or maybe Aweber. You've got the subscription form on your site and a couple of subscribers on the list already. So, what to do with it?
The lazy way is to just inform the subscribers when your blog has been updated. Oh yeah. Great way to get people bored, stop paying attention to your emails and to unsubscribe. They most likely get the updates from other ways, such as subscribing to your RSS feed, liking your page on Facebook or following you on Twitter.
What you need to do is to make your list members feel special. You can do this simply by offering exclusive content (like I do). Instead of making the list just another way to tell your subscribers your blog has been updated, give them whole new content or expand your blog posts. Only for them.
Another good tactic to make your subscribers feel they are getting the worth of it is to give them exclusive digital gifts. For instance you could make a pretty todo-list and give it only to the newsletter subscribers. Or an ebook, distributed exclusively for the email list.
Of course there's something else too: You can give your email subscribers special offers to your online store. If you don't have a store of your own, you could make a deal with someone else who has one. These offers need to be available to only those who are on your list, so they know they are getting a special treatment and will stay subscribed.
This is a reader supported blog without paywalls and advertisement. If you appreciate my work and want to help me rewild the internet, please consider becoming a free or paid patron today. I can't do this without the support of readers like you. So if you can to contribute financially, I would really appreciate your help.
