Twitter Tuesday: What if I have nothing to Tweet about?
We all have one of those days in time to time. Well, all and all. Some people seem find inspiration to Tweet from the color of their underpants. But the rest of us have those days, weeks or even months when we feel like there's nothing to say. Or rather Tweet.
So what to do when this happens? Most Twitter advice by most Twitter "experts" would tell you to keep consistently Tweeting. Sharing links, scheduling, giving tips, being all social. They are right and they are wrong. If you are Tweeting for your work and keeping a brand alive with it, having one of those days may seem like a bad idea.
Actually I'd say it might be for the best. You could even take a break from using Twitter. There's nothing wrong with that. It gives you time to refresh and get your interest back. Because nothing is more uninteresting than Tweets from someone who's really not interested in Tweeting.
If being out of Twitter for too long seems like a bad idea (for your marketing, branding etc.) a good way to get onto it is to refresh your followings. In time to time I revisit the list of people I follow and drop off (or on TweetBot just plain mute) those who aren't giving me anything anymore. I'm not interested in the links they share, I'm not interested in their other Tweets and I have no interest in ReTweeting them. So off they go and new ones have room to get in.
In case you are not afraid of repelling a bunch of followers who don't really care, you can try something totally new. Tweet out loud some of your random thoughts. Don't be afraid of sounding silly or even kinda stupid.
And of course just replying to other people is always a way to go. Answer their questions. Reply to their random Tweets. Tell them the link they shared was aaaawesome. Just remember, you may need to take my advice of refreshing your followings first.
